The lazy man's chocolate cake: good in a pinch

Have you heard of this mythical 5-minute chocolate cake? Yes, it does exist and it's not as bad as you might think. Last night I was having a particularly grueling time making graphs for an upcoming presentation. I turned to what has become one of my standard first-aid remedies for a chocolate craving: cake in a mug. Recipe and more info after the jump.

It was such a dire situation, I didn't even have time to document it for the blog. The image above (found through google image search) does look very much like mine.

You can find the Half Assed Kitchen recipe here. There are many recipes to be found (even gluten free) and it's been a good pick-me-up when I need a chocolate fix (which is often, let's be honest).

If you can believe it, at least one company has seen enough of a potential in this semi-decent, chocolate dessert-type substance to produce the mix for you pre-made! Dr. Oetker now reduces this half-assed recipe into complete full-assed (or would it be no-assed?), see here.

So, the moral of the story is as follows: if your having a rough day and you need to refuel with some chocolate,  try cake-in-a-mug.
